Beautiful Santorini

This summer I went to Santorini and spent fantastic 7 days on this really beautiful island. We stayed in Kamari in hotel Epavlis which turned to be good choice. The 4 star hotel was very comfortable and Kamari is a lovely beach resort. From Kamari you can go to the most famous places and towns in Sanorini by bus or rent a car. It takes only 10 minutes to Fira - the capital town. Although it was the beginning of August island didn't seamed to be too crowded and the weather was just fine, about 35-37 °C

View from our hotel terrace in Kamari

Santorini is not easy to describe...it is not comparable with any other Greek island. What makes it so different from any other island, is its imposing landscape, the caldera with its impressionistic contrast of colours....

Santorini is the last of the Cyclades islands to the South. The closests islands are Ios, Folegandros, Sikinos to the North, Anafi and Amorgos to the East and Crete to the South.

Santorini is a complex of five islands. Santorini (Thira) is the main island and around it Thirasia and Aspronisi (parts of the ancient Stroggili) and the two volcanic islands Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni.

Many reasons made this island famous worldwide and more or less we all have seen a picture of it. There is a talk about the connection between Thira and mythical Atlantis. Also Jules Verne made Santorini famous with its books "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" and "The mysterious island" where captain Nemo and his crew watch the volcano eruption. He was one of the visitors and scientists that came to Thira during the eruptions of 1866 - 1870 and wrote the well known book just after it.

It is really the mysterious island and it is probably the most famous for its Caldera - which is the opening created by the Santorini volcano - its breathtaking sunset view and its beaches, which have unique colors due to the volcanic properties of the sand. Santorini's rocky cliffs and landscape are almost primitive and wild, adding even more to its mystery...

If you are after the caldera view have a look at Fira, Oia, Imerovigli, Firostefani, Akrotiri.
For the best beaches check Perissa, Kamari, Perivolos, Vlihada and Red beach.

I took lots of photos which I`m sharing with you here hoping that I will visit Santorini again...some day.
This island is perfect for lovers and romantics... And the food is great:) I had wonderful time... although I missed one person very much... There is always the next time:)

Sarah Brightman - anytime, anywhere !

Sarah Brightman was born on August 14th, 1960. Her West End debut was at the age of 13 in "I and Albert". She originated the role of Christine in London and in New York. Sarah married composer Andrew-Llyod Webber in 1984 until 1990. She has recorded a number of solo albums, including 1988's The Trees They Grow So High, 1989's The Songs That Got Away, 1990s As I Come of Age, 1993's Dive, 1995's Fly, and 1998's Eden. And recent ones like La Luna (2001) and Harem (June, 2003).

Best known for her breakout role in Andrew Lloyd Webber`s The Phantom of the Opera, Sarah Brightman has sold over 25 million records, 2 million DVDs, and has played sold-out shows worldwide. Brightman's music is generally classified as classical crossover. She has a three-octave vocal range that extends to an E above Soprano C.

Brightman's duet with Chris Thompson, "I Will Be With You (Where The Lost Ones Go)" has been chosen to be the theme song for "Pokemon: Movie 10. The ballad and the movie will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Pocket Monsters movie franchise. Another Brightman song, "Time to Say Goodbye" with Andrea Bocelli, is also being currently featured in the movie, Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell.

Sarah`s brand new song, "Running", was chosen as the official theme song for 2007 IAAF Athletics Championship Games in Osaka, Japan. The song has been premiered at the opening ceremony on August 25. She has also been appointed as IAAF's first Green Project Ambassador to help raise awareness for the global environment.

We all know that Sarah will sing the main theme of a new Mexican telenovela Pasión which will be released in September.

We, who love Sarah and her music, can hardly wait for new album. The current release date is set at January 29th, 2008 but is still subject to change.

I really like her voice and the way she performs her songs. I listen her albums very often and I must say that albums Eden and La Luna are the best so far. Harem is interesting but "too much" for my taste – regarding aesthetics especially (her make-up…costumes etc.).Album La Luna I like the most. And songs? Let`s say.. So many things, Piano (Memory) - from Cats, Italian version, Naturaleza muerta, Eden, The last word you said…Winter in July, Here with me…La Luna,…Only an ocean away - are among my favorite songs. The list is too long, I’m afraid .

Sarah Brigtman: Running lyrics
I was sad and I was silent
In shadow of my soul
Ever seeking the horizon
For promises untold

I dreamed of silent oceans
And I sang of waters blue
With the crossing of Angels
Brought forth to guide me through

To a distant shore so welcoming
Where I was free to roam
To a land of ancient mystery
That I could call my own

THIS IS ME AND YOU
AND WE ARE RUNNING
TO CHANGE THE WORLD
WHERE HOPE IS SHINING THROUGH

GAIA’S GREEN AND BLUE
AND WE ARE RUNNING
TO SAVE THE WORLD
THAT WE'RE ABOUT TO LOSE

WE'LL BE RUNNING
WATCH IT COMING
GREEN IS SHINING THROUGH

LOVE IS RISING
WORLDS COLLIDING
GREEN IS SHINING THROUGH

Can you hear the distant beating
Of passion born of old
Reaching out to far horizons
Of prophecy untold

I will wander through the desert
I will seek you in my hand
In the silence of shadows
In palaces of sand

Then a voice called from the wilderness
Whose spirit held the key
To a world and soul united
Forever strong and free.

P.S.
Many regards to Amanezco, big fan of Sarah:)

What about love?

Questions...many unanswered. Some of them are serious, some are trivial. Is it possible that love survives in our modern time? Of course, I believe that only love will save as all IF...if we finally begin to love: ourselves and others. And this is not easy as it seems:) I like poetry...and written word. There are poems in which you can find your unspoken thoughts, feelings and longings - and truths as well.

This is only one small part of my collection:)
Albert Camus wrote that the only serious question is whether to kill yourself or not. Tim Robbins wrote that the only serious question is whether time has a beginning and an end. Camus clearly got up on the wrong side of bed, and Robbins must have forgotten to set the alarm. There is only one serious question. And that is : WHO KNOWS HOW TO MAKE LOVE STAY? Answer me that and I will tell you whether or not to kill yourself”
(T. Robbins “Still Life with Woodpecker” )

William Ernest Henley

Between the dusk of a summer night
And the dawn of a summer day,
We caught at a mood as it passed in flight,
And we bade it stoop and stay.
And what with the dawn of night began
With the dusk of day was done;
For that is the way of woman and man,
When a hazard has made them one.

Arc upon arc, from shade to shine,
The World went thundering free;
And what was his errand but hers and mine --
The lords of him, I and she?
O, it's die we must, but it's live we can,
And the marvel of earth and sun
Is all for the joy of woman and man
And the longing that makes them one.

D'elles (meaning About Them) is the title of Céline Dion`s most recent French language album. It was released on May 18, 2007 in certain European countries."D'elles" is concept project that celebrates womanhood. The lyrics for all thirteen songs were written by influential female authors from France and Quebec. I liked this album very much, especially the song "Immensité". The lyrics are beautiful. Here is the video: song-Immensité

The beginning

I don’t know yet what to write about…so…this is just the beginning of one uncertain journey .. I’m impressed by many things… I like music fondly…especially Sarah Brightman and her angelic voice. I like traveling …both physically and metaphysically..
I also enjoy writing and taking photographs… This blog exists due to my dear friend Amanezco who encourages me to do things I wouldn’t normally do.
